The Complete Book of Drawing

Barrington Barber

Barrington Barber

This one of the first books I brought to learn how to draw (although there was a copy in the local library I purchased my own copy because it’s a book that I dip in and out of whenever I need to).

I like the authors style of drawing as well as his nurturing way of teaching and explaining concepts. The exercises really help to break sketching down into parts to make drawing feel less daunting when you start out.

This book is a little gem, it has some really nice example sketches and has a good balance of theory, examples and exercises.

I’m a logical person and the way the author breaks down drawing into steps made a lot of sense to me.

The main lesson I took away from this book was the establish, construct and elaborate method.
